What counts as an event
An event is one of:
- A public visit, download, or play on a link
- A CLI, HTTP, or MCP write: create / update / delete a link; add / verify / remove a domain; create / rotate / delete a webhook
Reads do not count: list, get, stats, CSV export, webhook list/get, auth whoami / GET /me. File bytes on create are part of that create, not a second event. Replacing a file on update is one write.
Crawlers and link-preview fetchers (Googlebot, GPTBot, ChatGPT, Slack, X, …) are not events. They never count as visits and never send webhooks.
Crawler log
Each crawler fetch of a link is logged separately, by crawler, company, and type: AI answers (an assistant fetching the link for a person), search index, AI training, other AI, and link previews (Slack, X, LinkedIn, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage). Any other bot is logged as “Other bot”. It is returned as crawlers in link stats. The crawler log has its own monthly limit (table above). When it is reached, crawler fetches are no longer logged until the period resets; redirects and visit analytics are unaffected. Crawlers are identified by user agent. Crawler history follows your plan’s analytics retention, like visits.
Event quota
When the monthly event quota is reached, further writes and ingest return an error (Event limit reached for this period. Upgrade or wait until it resets.). There is no overage billing.
